Civil War Veteran. Mr. Swett was a 21 year old single Teamster from Brewer, Me. when he enlisted as a Private on 5 Aug 1862. He mustered to active duty the same day with Co. C; 2nd Infantry Regiment; Maine Volunteers. He was then described as standing 6' tall with brown hair and blue eyes.

He was transferred to Co. G; 20th Infantry Regiment; Maine Volunteers on 20 May 1863. He finished his service with this Company until mustered out with an Honorable Discharge on 4 Jun 1865.

On 18 Sep 1889 he made application# 729.399 for a Veteran's Invalid Pension, paid under certificate# 1.057.297. His widow Abbie continued to receive a Widow's Pension after his death.
