Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2002 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose for Albert M. Primus who died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at the Melrose Area Hospital. Rev. Vincent Lieser will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Veterans prayer service will be at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. and St. Bernard's Society at 8:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home in Melrose.
Albert Meinulf Primus was born June 23, 1921 on the Primus Family Farm (Section 9) in Grove Township, Stearns County, Minnesota. He is the son of William J and Rose M (Meyer) Primus. He was united in marriage wtih Marie M Hinnenkamp in 1947. The couple raised their family on a farm 2 miles west of Melrose, Minn. (Section 4 of Grove Township)
Survivors include his wife, Marie Primus of Melrose; children, Tony Primus (Lynette) of Alexandria, Angie Bauer (David) of Elrosa, Ray Primus (Rosemary) of Melrose, Monica Magnuson (Ron) of Annandale, Marty Primus (Georgi) of Sauk Centre, Fritz Primus (Judy) of Melrose, Theresa Madel (Joe) of Murphysboro, Illinois, Ruth Eliason (John) of Greenfield, Paul Primus (Amy) of Melrose, Chad Primus of St. Cloud, Amy Primus of Stanchfield; 33 grandchildren; one great-grandson.
Albert Primus is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Alphonse Primus (Hildegard) of Bluffton, Regina Wessel of Melrose, Sr. Lynette Primus, OSB of St. Cloud, Joe Primus (Catherine) of Melrose, Rosemary Schmiesing of Meire Grove, Betty Moscho (Nick) of St. Martin and Roman Primus (Clare) of Long Prairie, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Alcuin Primus and Urban Primus and a sister, Sr. Oronda Primus, OSB.
