A stone was placed on the grave site of Martha Caroline Hill Colbert on June 16th, 2012 by William H. Colbert and Loraine Skates Smith, great grandchildren of Elisha M. Colbert and his wife Martha Caroline Hill Colbert.

Martha Caroline Hill Colbert was born 14 March 1856 in Dawson County, GA to Andrew Hudlow Hill and Mariah Barrett.
Martha was the wife of Elisha M. Colbert. She is buried next to him in an unmarked grave. Both husband and wife are between the SKATES grave (in front of the people in this picture) and the SARTAIN plot to the right of them. The father died first, so is probably closest to the Skates stone. Maria Colbert Skates was their daughter.
Martha died on 23 Sept 1942.

Elisha M. Colbert and Martha Caroline Hill Colbert

They were married on 14 Aug 1879 in Dawson County, GA by her uncle, the Rev. Alfred Webb. They moved to LaFayette around the mid 1890's. Their home still exists and is located across the street from the Lafayette Church of Christ, where they were members.
