Michael "Mike" Bryce Collins, 68, of Wickenburg, Ariz., passed away peacefully in his home on the beautiful afternoon of May 19 after a long battle with cancer.
Mike was born on June 8, 1942, to Walter William and Eunice Isabelle Collins. He grew up in Safford, Ariz., and attended Eastern Arizona College after graduating high school. He also served in the National Guard before marrying Barbara Ann Collins of Benson, Ariz. in 1965. They relocated to Wickenburg in 1970. He was the former owner of Wickenburg Tire Co. and a local gas station before retiring in 2008. Mike was a member of the Wickenburg Elks Lodge 2160.
He enjoyed hunting, exploring the desert, cooking and gardening. He was well known for his kindness to others and loved helping people out. Everyone was welcome at his home and faults were always overlooked by him.
Mike is survived by his son Christopher John Collins with wife Michelle Ann Collins of Glendale, Ariz.; daughter Rebecca Ann Edwards with husband Shannon Dale Edwards of Wickenburg; daughter Michelle Marie Collins of Wickenburg; brother Philip L. Collins of Mesa, Ariz.; sister Colleen Newton of Weldon, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by brother Walter "Sandy" Collins of Safford, Ariz. Mike is also survived by grandsons Austin Bryce Zobel, Brent Robert Zobel, Casey Allen Zobel, Levi James Hayes, Tanner William Hayes, and Justin Charles Hayes, all of Wickenburg, and granddaughter Sarah Nicole Collins of Glendale, Ariz.
Service is to be held at Mike's house on 37200 S. Rincon Road on Saturday (May 28) at 5 p.m. Come celebrate Mike's life with us in casual dress attire. All who loved him are welcome.
Arrangements are by David's Desert Chapel Funeral Home.
