Shorty was born June 21, 1921, to Edward and Anna (Job) Albrecht at Leola, SD. He grew up in the area and worked on area farms for several years. In 1944 he married Delphy Becker and that union a daughter, Sharon and son Howard, were born. They later moved to Aberdeen where he worked for H.V. Johnston Culvert Company for 11 years. In 1960 the family moved to the Black Hills where he worked for Homestake Mining Company for 24 years before retiring in 1983. He and Delphy were later divorced.
After his retirement, he went to work for F.O. Jolley Funeral Home part time for the next 11 years. Then, he worked for Lookout Memorial Hospital in Spearfish until September 26, 1997.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Chris; daughter, Sharon Moses, brothers, Milbert, Albert, Allen; sisters, Alice and Gertrude.
Visitation will be on Wednesday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 26, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis with Pastor Denzel Nonhof officiating. Burial follows at the Bear Butte Cemetery near Sturgis.
