Maurice H. Greer, Sr., 89, of 511 Burem Road, Rogersville, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 21, 2007, at Rogersville Care and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.

Maurice professed faith in Christ on April 5, 1966 and joined East Rogersville Baptist Church on April 6, 1966. He retired from A.F.G. Industries at Greenland after 26 years of service and was a farmer most of his life, which he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah J. and Ressie Dykes Greer, his wife, Helen Hagood Greer, a son, James (Jimmy) Hicklen Greer, his brothers, Virgil, Clifford, Kelly Douglas (K.D.), Noah Jackson, and Harry, a sister, Betty Ruth Shanks.

Maurice is survived by his children, Robert (Bud) Greer and wife, Helen, Phyllis Price and husband, Jack, and Maurice Greer, Jr. and wife, Connie all of Rogersville; grandchildren: Tina Greer, Anna Hart, Melissa Ogle, Kenneth Greer, Jack Price, Jr. and wife, Georgeanne, and Maurice Greer, III; step grandchildren: Shawn Hatchett, Tony Hatchett, and Darrin Hatchett; 14 great grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren; sisters: Eileen Mowl, Helen Cavin, Frances Feiner, and Mary Jo (George) Shanks, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Calling hours were from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at Colboch-Price Funeral Home. Services were held at 8 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Glen Bradley and Rev. John Parrott, Jr. officiating. Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning at Highland Cemetery.
