DUANE LANDON McCALLISTER OWNED CLINTON BUSINESS

Duane Landon McCallister, 65, of Clinton, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Oct. 2, 1936, in Sod, W.Va., he was the son of Raymond and Melba McCallister, who are deceased.

Mr. McCallister lived in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for many years before moving to Anderson County in 1974. He owned his first business, Atlantic Service Station, at the age of 19, and had owned businesses most of his life, his family said. He had owned and operated Duane's Truck Service in Clinton since 1974.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marian Clark McCallister; four sons, Duane L. McCallister Jr. and Donny McCallister and his wife, Debbie, all of Lake City, David McCallister of Garland, Texas, and Dennis McCallister and his wife, Regina, of Strawberry Plains; and three daughters, Patricia Chase and her husband, Rex, of Clinton, Dana Ambrose and her husband, Jon, of Watkinsville, Ga., and Melissa Miles and her husband, Mark, of Lake City. Mr. McCallister is also survived by his brother, Douglas McCallister and his wife, Leola, of Monterey; two sisters, Helen Lawson of Clinton and Ruth Campbell and her husband, Jack; eight grandsons, James Chase and his wife, Kim, Duane Chase and his wife, Melissa, Nathan McCallister, Marcus Miles, Jesse McCallister, Elliot Ambrose, Landon McCallister and Matthew Miles; five granddaughters, Tonya Craig and her husband, Phil, Amy Williams, Stephanie Ambrose, Beth Williams and Leah McCallister; and five great-grandchildren, Justin Craig, Jordan Craig, Chad Chase, Tayler Chase and Ally Chase. In addition to his parents, Mr. McCallister was preceded in death by two brothers, Denver McCallister and Dwight McCallister.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, April 12, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Tim Russell officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
