Son of Mrs. Marie Carter who resided in Rochester, New York.

Husband of June Carter and Dad of Diane Carter (17 months old) who also resided in Rochester, New York.

Leo served as a Private in the 323rd Infantry, 81st (Wildest) Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided at 47 1/2 Lenriet Street, Rochester, Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on September 7, 1943 in Rochester. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Toolmaker, die sinker and setter with the James Cunningham & Son Company and also as Married.

Leo was "Killed In Action" on Peleliu Island in the Pacific Area during the war.

He was awarded a Purple Heart.

He was first interred overseas and later re-interred here on February 23, 1949.
