HATTERAS - Mrs. Ursula Violet Stowe, 91, died Tuesday morning [April 15, 1980] in the Albemarle Hospital following a short illness.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Hatteras. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hatteras United Methodist Church.
She was a daughter of the late Bascom and Mrs. Dorcas Gaskins Ballance and the wife of the late Nelson Stowe.
She is survived by one son, Maynard E. Stowe of Norfolk, Va.; 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 in the Hatteras United Methodist Church by Rev. Fred Roberts, pastor. Burial will follow in the Ballance Cemetery in Hatteras. The body will be taken from Twiford's Island Chapel in Hatteras to the church Thursday afternoon to lie in state one hour prior to services.
