MRS. W.S. ADAMS PASSES AT SCOTLAND
Mrs. W.S. Adams, age 69, died at her home in Scotland Sunday evening from an illness of seven weeks. Mrs. Adams was one of the pioneer resident of Telfair County, being the daughter of the late J.S. Kinchen and Frances Riordan Kinchen of Scotland, and was first married J.P. Clements in 1891, and after his death was married to Mr. W.S. Adams in 1899; one son by her first husband P.S. Clements, survive, and her marriage to Mr. Adams connected two of the most prominent families of Telfair and Old Montgomery (now Wheeler) counties. One child, Margaret Adams, blessed this union who died of infantile paralysis. She was a sister to the late R.L. Kinchen of Scotland and senior member of one of the largest mercantile firms south of Macon, the R.L. Kinchen Co., and the W.S. Adams Co., of Scotland. She was a life-long member of the Scotland Methodist Church and a leader in religious affairs. Funeral services were held at the home in Scotland Tuesday morning at ten o'clock, conducted by Rev. C. A. Morrison, a former pastor of the Alamo Methodist Church, assisted by Rev. J.L. Jackson, of the Lumber City Methodist Church and interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, McRae.
Pall bearers being: G.C. Wooten, of McRae, R. A. Morrison, of Glenwood, Thurston Norfleet, Dwight Flanders, Duncan Graham, and Jimmie Lee Clegg, all of Scotland; Harris & Smith Funeral Home having charge of the body. She is survived by one son, P.W. Clements of Scotland, two sisters, Mrs. W.H. Clements, of Atlanta and Miss Sallie Kinchen of Scotland, and two grandchildren, Alice Frances and J. F. Clements of Scotland.
