Clara Larson was born November 22, 1879 in Bondin Township, Murray County, Minnesota to John and Elsa Swenson Holmberg. She attended rural school and worked as a seamstress for many years at Slayton, Minnesota before her marriage. On June 24, 1908 she was married to Carl L Larson at her home farm in Bondin Township. Following their marriage they farmed in rural Avoca area retiring in 1945 when they moved to Slayton. Mr. Larson passed away January 1, 1955. She was member of Faith Lutheran Church in Avoca, Minnesota and was a faithful member and active worker in church organizations. She was active in the Red Cross, Royal Neighbors Lodge, in extension work, and also a 4-H Adult Leader. Due to a fall she was hospitalized at the Murray County Memorial Hospital, Slayton, Minnesota and passed away there on August 2, 1971 at the age of 91 years. She is survived by her eight children; Kenneth A. of Slayton, Minnesota; Walter G. of Avoca, Minnesota; Alvin L. of Slayton, Minnesota; Maynard of Avoca, Minnesota; Irene, Mrs. Glennon Miller of Lake Wilson, Minnesota; Else, Mrs. Donald Sonstegard of Paynesville, Minnesota; and John C. of Slayton, Minnesota. Ruth Johnson, Mrs. Theodore Schotzke of Springfield, Minnesota made her home with the Larson family for many years. There are 36 grandchildren and 32 great grand children. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and infant son, one daughter Marion Alida; two grandsons, two sisters, Anna Mrs. O.C. Wornson and Hattie Holmberg, two infant brothers and two brothers, John and Albert Holmberg.

Funeral services at Faith Lutheran Church, Avoca, Minnesota, August 6, 1971 at 1:30 p.m., the Rev, Walter Lange, Pastor. Special music by Mrs. Herman Abramson, soloist, “Abide With Me” and Amazing Grace”. Congregational Hymn “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.” Mrs. Doug Pierson, organist. Pall bears: Gary Sonstegard, Rodney Larson, James Larson, Curtis Miller, Thomas Larson, and Timothy Dispanet. Interment in Lime Lake Lutheran Cemetery, Lime Lake Township, Murray County, Minnesota. Arrangements by Hustad Funeral Home, Slayton, Minnesota.
