Mrs. Betty Jean Colley Hardee, 76 of Patterson, passed away Tuesday morning (May 24, 2011) at her residence.
Born in Blackshear on January 28, 1935, Mrs. Hardee had lived in Pierce County all of her life. She was a homemaker and had farmed with her husband, Gene Hardee. She had also worked with her daughter in the health care field for several years. Mrs. Hardee was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she had been active in the church choir. Mrs. Hardee was known for her delicious dumplings and generous hospitality.
Mrs. Hardee was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Marion & Mary Corbitt Colley. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Eldridge, and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Hardee of Patterson; two daughters and a son-in-law, Genese & B. E. Hatcher of Newport Beach, CA and Cindy Rocker of Beverly Hills, CA; two sisters and a sister-in-law, Ella Nelson and Mary & Dewey Kicklighter all of Jacksonville, FL; a brother, L. D. Colley of Waycross; 5 grandchildren, Dr. Bert & Judy Branch, Lindsey Branch, Ashlee Hatcher, Blake Paz and Kassandra Rocker; 2 great grandchildren, Sylvie Branch and Austin Branch, and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.
Visitation:
Visitation for Mrs. Hardee will be held Friday evening from 6 until 9 o'clock at the funeral home.
Service:
Funeral services for Mrs. Hardee will be held at 2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon (May 28, 2011) at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hardee will lay in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
The family requests that members of the Senior Adult Sunday School class serve as honorary pallbearers. Please meet at the church by 1:30 Saturday.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Patterson Cemetery.
