DOROTHY SALTSMAN
Dorothy M. Saltsman, 79, of Canajoharie, died Friday, June 30 at her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Saltsman was born July 15, 1920, in Fonda, the daughter of Victor and Marion Christman Putman. She attended the former Everson District Stone Arabia School and had been a resident of Canajoharie for many years.
On June 14, 1941, she married John A. Saltsman. He died in 1995.
She was a homemaker, mother and helped her husband run the family farm.
Mrs. Saltsman was a member of Salem United Methodist Church of Stone Arabia and served as secretary of the church's Ladies Circle.
Survivors include one son, David Saltsman of Canajoharie; three sisters, Ann Nellis of St. Johnsville, Bernice Dodds of Palatine Bridge and Margaret Steffenhagen of Fort Plain; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Fisher in 1986 and two brothers, Gordon and Elmer Putman.
The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 5, (today) at the Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego St., Canajoharie. The Rev. Camillus Mourice to officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
A calling hour will precede the funeral service.
