Death Claims Aged Pioneer
Mrs. Jennie Jamieson, 91 years old, widow of Robert Jamieson and mother of Mrs. Clifford W. Hartley, Walla Walla, died Friday morning in a local hospital after a two week's illness. Mrs. Jamieson had lived most of her life in Oregon and Washington.
Although she was born in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada October 7, 1860, she came to the Oregon territory in 1877 and for many years lived in the Weston area where her husband farmed. He died about 19 years ago. The family home at 615 University Street, where the Hartleys now live, had been Mrs. Jamieson's home for the past 44 years.
Mrs. Jamieson was a member of the Presbyterian church in Pendleton.
Besides her daughter, she leaves one sister, Mrs. Margaret Vessey of Walla Walla, and three grandsons, Lt. John Robert Hartley with the air force in Seattle, Lt. W.J. Hartley, now in Seoul, Korea and David Bruce Hartley of Grandview.
The two grandsons in this state were here for the Thanksgiving holiday and since Lt. Hartley's leave does not permit him to return later, plans are being made for the funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday from a local chapel with interment in Mountain View Cemetery.
