Charles Lester Larson was born in Bozeman on Feb. 15, 1944 to Lester and Sybil (Newkirk) Larson.
He was delivered on his sister, Dolly's, sixth birthday. They shared many fun birthdays together.
Both of his parents preceded him in death, as did his oldest sister, Barbara.
Chuck signed up for the Army National Guard in 1963 and spent seven years serving. During that time, he became a welder and blacksmith, a rifle sharp shooter and a carbine expert.
Chuck worked at the saw mill in Maudlow and then went to work for Yellowstone Pine, continuing as a saw filer through all of their changes until Louisiana Pacific closed. He most recently worked in Logan at Silver City.
He loved trains, car shows, fly fishing, puttering around in his yard and garage and family picnics in Maudlow.
He was a huge Minnesota Vikings fan and loved NASCAR. His weekends were spent watching both.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Joyce; son Lonnie (Carol Stock), of Belgrade; stepson Don Maedche, of Philadelphia and Singapore; stepdaughter LaVonne (Chris) Stucky, of Belgrade; sisters Dolly (Don) Swank, of Livingston, and Nona (Rob) Doyle, of Butte; grandchildren Kelly Stucky, of Belgrade, Juliana (Johnathan) Tipton, of Bozeman, Tyler and Anthony Stock, of Belgrade, and Wyatt and Karlee Seay, of Sheridan, Wyo. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service will be held. There will be a gathering of family and friends at 3 p.m. Monday at the Manhattan Senior Center. Visitation at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
