Philo Branson Martin 1840 to 7-7-1864 at Richmond, VA
Born in South Carolina, James came to Georgia with his parents and family about 1818 and settled near Flowery Branch creek (later known as Flowery Branch, GA). He married Melinda Sartor (4-17-1827 Hall Co.) and is listed in the 1830 through 1870 censuses of Hall County. They lived near the Pugh farm and worked for Mr. Pugh. They may have been buried in the Pugh Cemetery or the Shoal Creek Cemetery both of which were moved when Lake Lanier was constructed. Many of the graves were moved to New Bethany Baptist Church (including that of Fields Martin his nephew).
