Agnes C.R. "Skip" Duggar died July 9 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
She was born in Poland, Pa., and lived in Chatham County since 1948. She served in the Army, Army Reserves and Ground Observer Corps. She was the first woman to be named commander of American Legion Post 135, the first woman to be named commander of the First District American Legion and the first woman to serve as chairman of the Chatham County Veterans Council.
She was a member of the Eighth Air Force Museum, Chanel Women's Army Corps Veterans Association and a charter member of Women in Military Service for American Memorial Foundation. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pooler and Win-One Sunday School Class of the church. She was also a member of American Association of Retired Persons, Candler Care 65 and Senior Citizens of Chatham County. She attended Draughn's Business College and Savannah Vocational Technical School, and worked for Belk at Savannah Mall.
She was a Red Cross volunteer at the old St. Joseph's Hospital, a Salvation Army volunteer and a volunteer for the Chamber of Commerce of West Chatham. She was a Girl Scout leader for Intermediates at Pooler and a Louisville Road 4-H Club leader. She was a member of Home Economics Club of Pooler-Bloomingdale and was a stringer for WTOC TV since their first day of broadcast.
SURVIVORS: two nieces, Wilma Vardell of Greensboro, Pa., and Sue Frye of Front Royal, Va.; a nephew, Don J. Ritchie of Orlando, Fla.; and two adopted children.
VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. Monday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Massey Chapel in Garden City.
FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Massey Chapel, burial in Hillcrest Abbey West .
REMEMBRANCES: First Baptist Church, 110 N. Chestnut St., Pooler, GA 31322.
