Olin Butts
Olin M. Butts, 84, of 609 N. Second died Friday, Feb. 12, at Allen County Hospital. He had been ill the past 10 days.
Mr. Butts was born Nov, 8, 1897 near Humboldt, the son of Martin and Clara (Lash) Butts. He attended the Maple Grove School.
On Dec. 22, 1915, Mr. Butts was married to Lulu A. Brightley in Iola. They farmed near Humboldt until moving to Ellis County, Okla., in 1920. They lived and farmed in that area-until 1937 when they returned to Iola. Mr. Butts was also a carpenter until his retirement.
Mrs. Butts preceded her husband in death March 15, 1980.
He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Butts is survived by three sons; two daughters; a sister; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Lavern; a brother, Jasper Butts; and three sisters, Edna Butts, Edith Thompson and Maggie Thompson.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, at Friskel Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Dan Snowbarger officiating. Tuesday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. graveside services will be held in the Higgins Cemetery, Higgins, Texas. The Rev. Duane Matlock will officiate.
Memorials may be made, to the Church of the Nazarene and may be left at the church or Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Memorial Chapels Inc., which is in charge of arrangements.
