Dorothy E. Aber, 96, Fort Wayne, died at 2:38 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007 at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.

Born in Feb., 1911 in East Pittsburgh, Pa. to William J. and Elizabeth (Burns) Aber, Jr., she lived most of her life in Michigan, working as an executive secretary at the National Bank of Detroit. She was a member of the St. Therese Catholic Church in Fort Wayne.

Survivors include two nieces and two nephews, including John Stead of Bluffton.

There will be no calling or services. A memorial service will be held in Michigan at a later date.

Memorials are to the donor's choice.

Arrangements are being handled by Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home.

Aber Dorothy E,
96, died October 11, 2007. She lived most of her life in Harper Woods, Michigan. She moved to Kingston Retirement Community in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 2001 where she participated in many activities.

The daughter of William J. Aber, Jr. and Elizabeth K. Burns Aber, she was born in East Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Most of her career was spent at the National Bank of Detroit where she ultimately worked as the Executive Secretary to the bank president. Her flair for language led her to become poet laureate of the bank's newsletter. She also had numerous poems published under the pen name of E. Lisbeth Burns. She enjoyed golf, bowling, gardening, travel and working crosswords (in ink). She truly loved her life and treasured each and every day as a special gift. A devoted Catholic, she was very generous to those less fortunate.

She is survived by nephews Larry (Donna) and Gerry Stead; nieces Janet Day and Christine (Jim) VanDyke, three great nephews, four great nieces and two great great nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Charlotte Stead and Geraldine Aber and a brother, William J. Aber, III.

Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield. A Memorial Mass Friday, November 23, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Peters Church in Harper Woods Preferred memorials to the donor's choice.
