Thomas J. Mumford, a veteran of the Civil war, died at his home in West Rutland yesterday morning at 8 o'clock of a complication of diseases. He served in Company D, second Vermont regiment.
Mr. Mumford is survived by five daughters, Mrs. M.J. Hanley, Mrs. D.A. Murphy and Miss Nellie Mumford of West Rutland, Mrs. W.H. Finn of St. Albans, and Miss Bessie Mumford of New York, and four sons, James P., John E. and Charles L. of West Rutland, and Thomas W. of this city, and a brother, P.H. Mumford and a sister, Mrs. Bernard Battles of West Rutland. The funeral will be held at St. Bridget's church, Thursday morning at 8 o'clock.
