Former Idabel city clerk Diana Sharp, 57, Idabel, died Saturday at McCurtain Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bypass Church of Christ. Burial will be in Denison Cemetery under the direction of Jim Norwood Funeral Home.

Sharp served as Idabel's city clerk from 1995 to 1999, and had worked in the McCurtain County Court House both in the county clerk's and county assessor's office.

She served on the board of directors of the Kiamichi Youth Services and provided attended care for the county's juvenile services office. She was the recipient of a special award from the Idabel High School FFA chapter. She also worked as office manager for Jim Norwood Funeral Home.

Sharp, the daughter of John Paul and Theresa Sessions, was born Sept. 7, 1945, in Denison, Texas. She was a 1964 graduate of Idabel High School and had earned an associate's degree in business.

She was a member of the Bypass Church of Christ and was preceded in death by her father and by an aunt, Sue Sessions.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Tammy Sharp, and Sean and Melinda Sharp, all of Idabel; her mother and stepfather, Theresa and W.C. Rhodes; a brother and sister-in-law, Peter J. and Joyce Sessions, Clifford, Ind.; five grandchildren, Michael, Dalton, Dailyn, Stuart and Samantha Sharp; a niece, Tasha Sessions; three nephews, Robbie, Christopher and Josh Sessions; and a cousin, Jana Wheeler.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
