Emeline Clara Houser was the seventh of eleven children of Rev. Martin Houser (1799-1875) and Susanna Chitty Houser (1802-1867) who married 14 Apr 1821 at Salem, Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. I used to list her as Emeline Charity Houser, but the 1900 census return clearly shows her as E. Clara Foster, so I will use Clara as her middle name.

Emeline married Blashel Foster (1826-1916) on 25 May 1854 at West Salem, Edwards County, Illinois. Emeline and Blashel celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1914. Emeline and Blashel were the parents of six known children, four boys and two girls, namely:

1. Theodocia Foster (1855-1855)
2. William E. Foster (1856-1940)
3. Lucy S. Foster Leonard (1858-1921)
4. Martin D. Foster (1861-???)
5. Caroline N. Foster (1864-???)
6. George Blashel Foster (1867-1940)

Sometime between 1880 and 1900 the family moved to Yamhill and then Polk County, Oregon.

It is not known for sure if Emeline is buried at Fircrest Cemetery. Her husband Blashel Foster is and her eldest daughter, Lucy Foster Leonard, with whom she lived in 1920, is also buried there. Thus she is almost certainly buried there, perhaps in an unmarked grave.

Links to Emeline's parents, husband, one of her six known children and all of her ten known siblings are included below.
