Obituary from Wellsboro Agitator, Apr 12, 1905

Mr. Lester H Butler. aged 77, died on Wed at his home in Delmar, near Stokesdale Junction.

He was a son of Hartford and Matilda Butler, was born in Delmar twp., Nov 2, 1827, and spent all his life in this vicinity.

The cause of his death was bronchial trouble and general disability.

Mr. Butler Veteran Civil War, Private, Co. A, 149th PA Infantry Regiment, enlisted 28 Sep 1863, separated 24 Jun 1865; suffered from deafness and renal disease, and was a good soldier. He was respected by his neighbors and many friends.

He was twice married, his first wife being Jane Short, whom he married about 55 years ago. She died about eight years ago. Of their several children eight grew to maturity. Four sons and two daughters. Sons, Walter, Wallace, Walton, Weldon, with both daughters now deceased.

About seven years ago, Mr. Butler married Elizabeth Bockus, who survives him.

He is survived also by two sisters, Mrs. George Sears and Mrs. H. M. Wolf of Wellsboro.

Funeral services were held at the late home of the deceased Fri afternoon at 2 pm Rev. James Boyce officiating. Burial at Niles Valley.

The Pennsylvania Veterans Burial Card has Lester buried at Niles Valley Cemetery, 2nd Circle NW Inside.

Wallace disappeared at age 43, with nothing more known of him.
