George W. Seitz
RED HOOK - George W. Seitz, 87, of Red Hook, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. Mr. Seitz had operated his own farm in Red Hook and was employed as a bookkeeper for Red Hook Central Schools. After his retirement, he enjoyed buying and selling antiques. He served in the U.S. Army for six years during World War II until his return to the United States after being wounded in France. Mr. Seitz was born on Dec. 4, 1914. On Sept. 9, 1942, he married Elizabeth D. Shaffer at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Red Hook. Mrs. Seitz survives in Red Hook. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a half sister, Elsie Itall of Melbourne, Fla. and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Peter, Joseph and William Seitz. Calling hours are private. Funeral services are Thursday, Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 57 Broadway, Red Hook. Burial will be in St. Pauls Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA.
