Owatonna - Services for Mrs. Iola Borchert, 48, rural Owatonna, who died Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Waseca, the Rev. Raymond Harms officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Owatonna.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Kinder Home for Funerals, Waseca, and one hour before services at the church Saturday.
Mrs. Borchert was born Dec. 26, 1929, in Waseca County. She attended rural Waseca County schools. She graduated from New Richland High School in 1947. She attended LeCenter Teachers Training School and taught three years in Steele County. She attended Mankato Beauty School and worked as a beautician, She also worked at the Red Owl in Waseca for many years. She married Harold Schroeder Aug. 14, 1950. He preceded her in death. She married Adolph Borchert Oct. 18, 1976.
She is survived by her husband, Adolph; one daughter, Laurie Schroeder, Cincinnati; three sons, Tim Schroeder, Waseca, Richard Schroeder, Sierra Leone, Africa, and Thomas Schroeder, Cincinnati; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Denise (Kenneth) Halverson, Owatonna, Mary Borchert, Owatonna, and Wendy Borchert, Minneapolis; three stepsons, Michael and Jeffrey Borchert, Owatonna, and Kevin Borchert, Fort Collins, Colo.; five sisters, Mrs. Barbara (Duane) Tolzmann, Minnesota Lake, Mrs. Anita (William) Jewison, Janesville, Mrs. Opal (Charles) Hofius, Mankato, Mrs. Nona (David) Smith, New Richland, and Mrs. Thelma (Orville)Yess, West St. Paul; six brothers, Vernon Root, Pine City, Marvin, Gene, and David Root, Denver, William Root, Crocker, Mo., and Orville Root, New Richland; her mother, Mrs. Esther Root, Waseca; and four step-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her father and one infant brother.
