Residence: Penola, Caroline County, VA.; coach maker.

Elected on 5/1861 as a 1st Lieutenant, he was commissioned into "G" Co.

VA 30th Infantry.

Elected Captain 4/18/1862.

Wounded In Action (arm) 9/17/1862 in the Battle of Sharpsburg, MD.

Hospitalized 4/1863 with dysentery.

Hospitalized 9/1864 with dysentery.

Hospitalized 3/1865 with dyspepsia.

He was Surrendered on 4/9/1865 at Appomattox Court House, VA.


Postwar he represented Caroline County in the Virginia State Legislature.


The 30th Infantry Regiment completed its organization at Fredericksburg,

Virginia, in June, 1861. Men of this unit were from Fredericksburg and

the counties of Spotsylvania, Caroline, Stafford, and King George.
