US Naval Peacetime Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Served in the United States Navy as a Fireman First Class on board the "USS Leyden". He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery on January 21, 1903. His citation reads "Serving on board the U.S.S. Leyden, for heroism at the time of the wreck of that vessel". His Medal was awarded to him on December 26, 1903.
