Frederick and his family lived on the farm with his father, Henry, in Wyandotte County. After the sale of the farm the family lived in the Quindaro district of Kansas City, Kansas.

Obituary: Fred H Mertel For 36 Years He Was Secretary of Sherman Masonic Lodge.

Fred H Mertel, 83, who was secretary of the Rogert Sherman Masonic lodge thirty-six years before he retired in 1941, died yesterday at the home, 3021 North Twenty-second street. He was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Kansas.

Mr. Mertel was an insurance agent with the Baxter Insurance company ten years before he retired about twenty years ago. He was a member of the Quindaro Methodist church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nellie G Mertel of the home; two daughters Mrs. Rhea Shelly 5326 Neosho Lane, Johnson County, and Mrs Gladys Lundy, Terre Haute, Ind; three sons, A H Mertel 383 Quindaro Boulevard; Robert F Mertel St Louis and Elmer Mertel Topeka and a sister Mrs Cora Collins, 1355 Quindaro.
