Nellie R. Mitchell, 87, of McLeansboro, died at 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, 1998 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital. She was a homemaker.
She was born March 22, 1911 in Hamilton County, a daughter of Lewis and Teoria Elizabeth (Scott) Ruphard. On December 24, 1926 in Hamilton County she married Mark Mitchell who preceded her in death in 1965. Mrs. Mitchell had been active for many years with the Senior Citizens before declining health.
Her funeral was at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 1998 at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
Robert Sefried and Rev. Jason Craddock officiated. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell is surived by three sons, Ikey B. Mitchell and wife Barbara of Norris City, John T. Mitchell and Everett E. Mitchell and wife Glenda all of McLeansboro; five daughters, Elizabeth D. Short and husband Ray of Broughton, Ottilee Kaufman and husband Clarence, Dena R. Craddock, Vada F. Webber and Ruth J. Holcomb all of McLeansboro; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildern; one brother, William L. "Joe" Ruphard and wife Ruby of Broughton; one sister, Lula F. Moore of Fairfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, Jerry L., one grandson, one great-granddaughter Kaeli Hamilton; two sisters, three brothers, one son-in-law William "Bill" Craddock, and one daughter-in-law, Clara L. Mitchell
