The couple moved to District Dragum, Skomakaregarden, Lekasa s:n, Skeraberg Province in 1827. At that time his occupation was listed as Sergeant-Major. They had four children: Johanna Christina Mathilda 3/14/1828-3/28/1911; Johan Fredrich 9/27/1830 - 1/12/1848; Nicholas Laurentuis 12/4/1832 - 11/22/1914; and August Alfred 6/3/1838 - 5/30/1915. Nils died on March 9, 1881 in Sweden and his death notice states that he was a Former Master Sergeant/Warrant Officer who earned the Tapperhetsmedaljen. Nils's parents (the grandparents of Nicholas Lawrence) were Constable Anders Daneberg and Mrs. Cabriella Bredberg. Daneberg may have been the patronymic name of Anders OR the family may have chosen to use Bredberg for personal reasons.
The only child of Nils and Christina to leave Sweden was Nicholas Lawrence; he came to America from Lekasa, Vastra Gotaland Lan, Sverige, Sweden, sailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, arriving in New York on July 27, 1852. The ship he sailed on was named "Tudentire". It is believed he was traveling with cousins and/or family friends who were going to Chicago. At some point he moved to the Swedish community near Stockwell, Indiana. He married Sarah Jane (Jennie) Oyler on April 26, 1859. They lived on a farm near Yorktown Cemetery. They had three children:
(1) William Nicholas Bredberg who married Anna Mary Jolly/Jolley and then, after her death, married Flora Mae/May (Matie) Goldsberry; (2) Emma who married James Cosby, and (3) Ollie who married George Farris "Perry" Shumaker.
When Nicholas Lawrence died, he was survived by his younger brother in Sweden, August Alfred Bredberg. Nicholas also was survived by his three children, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. His newspaper obituary, from the Lafayette Journal and Courier stated: He was a man of rugged character, honest and upright, and was held in high esteem. He was a good citizen and enjoyed the confidence and respect of all who knew him. The funeral was held at the Swedish Church in Yorktown and burial was in the Yorktown Cemetery.
