Amedina (Amy) Cappa, 84, formerly of Franklin St., Williamsport, died May 18, 2010 in the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

Amy was born in Williamsport on December 9, 1924, the daughter of Carlo and Teresa Staccone Caschera. She is a member of the St. Joseph the Worker parish, Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church.

Amy had been a secretary for the Williamsport Area Community College for 17 years. She graduated from the Williamsport High School in 1942 and attended the former Williamsport Area Community College.

Amy was a volunteer for the Lycoming County Historical Society and the Friends of the James V. Brown Library. She was a literacy tutor at the James V. Brown Library and was a host mentor of the reading program at Jackson Elementary School. Amy was a member of the Creekside Storytellers.

Her husband of 51 years, Frank L. Cappa, preceded her in death in June of 1996.

Amy is survived by her children, David F. Cappa of Williamsport and Alice M. Cappa of Monticello Fla. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Michelle Lee Cappa and a sister, Mabelina Marseco of Williamsport.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated in the Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, 635 Hepburn St., Williamsport on Tuesday, May 25 at 11:30 a.m. Friends may call at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and memorial contributions in memory of Amy may be made to the charity of your choice.
