Chester was the first child born 11 Feb, 1892 to Chester H. Snelson and his second wife, Mountie Etna Jones, who lived in Springfield, Sangamon, Illinois.

By 1910 Chester was working as a farmhand for the Pumphrey family in Mosquito township, Christian county, Illinois. He married Amelia "Melie" E. Whiteside about 1912. They had one child, Clifford, in 1913. In 1917, the young family lived near Mt. Auburn, Christian county, Illinois, where Chester farmed for F. A. Stuart. By 1920, they moved to Niantic, where Chester worked at the coal mine. In 1930, they moved to 1028 East Garfield, in Decatur, Macon, Illinois, where Chester was employed as a foundry laborer. Later they lived on North Morgan street and Amelia worked at the Crane Potato Chip Factory which was within walking distance.

Chester registered for the draft in WW I in 1917, but proof of his service has not been found. He is buried in the Veteran's section of Graceland, so it can be thought that he was a veteran. He died 29 June, 1958 in Decatur, Macon county, Illinois.

Other brothers and sisters of Mount E Jones and Charles H Snelson were: Clara (1894), Adolph (1896), Carl,(1897) and Edna (1900). There were also 4 half-siblings by Charles H Snelson and his first wife Julia E. Saunders.
