VANDERBLEEK -- Orville Aldert, ("Red" and "Van"), age 80, died February 25, 1994, after a short illness.
He came to El Cajon at the age of 10 from Minnesota.
In his younger years his many activities included Midget Racecar driver, professional boxer, long distance truck driver, and in the mid-1980s was builder of the Imperial Valley All-American Canal.
While with the Navy CBs during WWII, he was stationed in Guam in the Pacific Theater. Spent 10 years with R.E. Hazard Construction as a diesel mechanic. Retired from S.D. City Utilities after 24 years and served as officer of the city retirement organization (SDRCEA).
Survived by wife Thelma J., 3 children Virginia Fishell Leonard, Tracey and Randall Fishell, 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; 3 sisters Adell Snodgrass, Annabell Grier and Joyce Thorn, and their families.
