Joseph served as a Private First Class in Company A, 48th Armored Infantry Battalion, 7th Armored Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided at 383 Champlain Street, Rochester, Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on February 20, 1942 at Fort Niagara, Youngstown, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in construction and also as Single, without dependents.

Joseph was "Killed In Action" near St. Vith, Liege, Belgium in the Battle of the Bulge during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was first interred overseas and later re-interred here on December 05, 1947.
