Michelle Lynn McCollum, 41, of Amarillo died Thursday, May 19, 2011.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Oasis Southwest Baptist Church with the Rev. Bradley Speer officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Michelle was born Dec. 6, 1969, in Amarillo to Terry and Vicki Marler. She was raised in Amarillo, graduated from Amarillo High School and then went on to earn her bachelor's degree from West Texas A&M University.

She married Brent McCollum on Dec. 15, 1990, in Canyon.

Michelle has always led a very active and involved life. As a WT alumna, she has been very active in Chi Omega social fraternity. She has a passion for children and had been the director of the Awanas program at Oasis Southwest Baptist Church for nine years, during which time, she has had a positive impact on an untold number of young peoples' lives.

In her spare time, she loved riding ATVs and was a member of the Post Enduro Association. She loved playing first base in a spirited game of softball. When not playing sports, she was an avid Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys fan.

One of the ways Michelle loved to relax was getting her hair and nails done. She was "all about" her family and loved being a wife and mom. Her family always came first. She had a stubborn streak that endeared her to everyone who knew and loved her.

Michelle strongly valued education and encouraged her children and many other family members to pursue further education. A real joy in her life was working at Fat-Boys Bar-B-Q Restaurant, which is owned by her parents in Canyon.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Carl Marler; her grandparents, Ely and Mildred Reagan; and two great-grandmothers, Louise Marler, and Lola Sheets.

Survivors include her husband, Brent McCollum of Amarillo; a daughter, Braelley McCollum of Amarillo; a son, Mason McCollum of Amarillo; her parents, Terry and Vicki Marler of Amarillo; a sister, Crysta Sullivan of Amarillo; two brothers, Terry Marler and Bryan Marler, both of Amarillo; two grandmothers, Esther Misener and Laverne Marler, both of Amarillo; three aunts, Marsha Blackburn of Mitchell, Neb., and Judy Miller and Janna Veach, both of Amarillo; two uncles, Butch Blackburn of Mitchell and Ralph Veach of Amarillo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family suggests memorials be to Oasis Southwest Baptist Church Children's Ministry, P.O. Box 7526, Amarillo, TX 79114.
