cemetery records: Ed. J. Garlick Sr.
7th Cav G Co

By trade he was a laborer.
He enlisted in the 7th U.S. Cavalry on 14 April 1876. He was placed in Company G under Donald McIntosh. Company G was one of the companies that was under Marcus Reno at the Battle of the Little Big Horn in June 1876.
However, Garlick who was a 1st Sgt. in Company G was on a furlough at the time, and possibly that saved his life.

1. He was born in 1848 not 1846.
2. For many years he was a mail carrier between Sturgis and Fort Meade, South Dakota.
3. He re-enlisted in April 1876. In fact it was his third of five enlistments in the US Army. He was assigned to Company G in 1871.
