When Dorothy Marguerite Dickerson was born on January 16, 1904, in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, her father, Paul, was 19, and her mother, Harriet, was 28. She married Herman Henry Durbin Sr. on June 11, 1931, in Lansing, Michigan. They had eight children in 12 years. She died on March 22, 1949, in Lansing, Michigan, at the age of 45, and was buried in Dimondale, Michigan.
