Milbry Jean Altman Simmons, 81, of Blountstown, passed away early Monday morning, Jan. 3, 2011 at her home. She was born on April 22, 1929 in Canal Point and had lived in Blountstown for the past 10 years coming from Quincy. She worked in retail sales for JC Penny and Jane's Bootery. She was a member of Macedonia First Baptist Church in Blountstown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Alexander Simmons.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna Gaye Dees and her husband Lawrence of Blountstown; one sister, Nettie Wilson of South Haven, MS; three grandchildren, Chad Dees, Kelly Wyrick and Clay Dees and five great grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. (CT) at Macedonia Fist Baptist Church in Blountstown with Reverend David Wood officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior and up to time of service at the church. Interment will follow in the Nettle Ridge Cemetery in Blountstown.

Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown is in charge of the arrangements.
