Growing up Bill had a bittersweet childhood. He fought hard during all the tough times, but, it never slowed his spirit. Bill was a Corporal in the United States Army and was stationed in France. He enjoyed being a member of the American Legion. He worked as a musician, pipe fitter, welder, and was a foreman for Uni Cal Oil Company before retiring at age 70.
Bill was fortunate enough to marry and live a lifetime with his soul mate, Charlotte Kraupie. In his younger days, he had his own band. Bill taught Charlotte how to play the drums and they made their living together entertaining others. Bill and Charlotte had three daughters, and when the girls were small they would travel with them on the road. Bill played several instruments, including the banjo, fiddle, base, drums, and the harmonica. His favorite instrument was his guitar. In addition to having his own band, Bill enjoyed writing country music, fishing, hunting, and astrology.
Bill leaves behind a loving family including his wife, Charlotte Ann Zimmerman of Aberdeen, ID; daughter, Cheri (DJ) Nicholson; daughter, Lori (Tino) Ayala of Elko, NV; daughter, Juli George (Price Mayer)of Aberdeen, ID; sister, Shirley Joyce Pryor of Yakima, WA; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 niece; 1 nephew and 7 cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles Milton and Julia L. Wilcox Zimmerman; brother, Jackie; sisters, Thelma and Charlotte.
