Mrs. Ida Brisbane Dies Here
Mrs. Ida Isabel Brisbane, 86, died at her home at 108 6th Ave. NW on Saturday, April 24 at 7 p.m. Death was due to complications of old age. She had been ill for the past five years.
Ida Schiefner was born August 12, 1881, in Lockport, NY, the daughter of Christian and Christena Schiefner. They moved to Waseca when Ida was six years of age. She attended the rural schools in Waseca county. She was the last one of a family of eight children.
In March of 1879 she was united in marriage to John Y. Brisbane of Byron township. Five children were born to the union: John E. Brisbane of Waseca, Maude J. Brisbane, of Waseca, Owen L. Brisbane of Waseca, and Hazel Michaels of Portland, Oregon; her children survive. Her husband, John, preceded her in death in 1922 and one child, Roy Brisbane, on Oct. 25, 1941. She was a member of the Methodist church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 27, at 2 p.m. in the Methodist church with Rev. G.E. Martin officiating. Interment was made at the St. Peter's cemetery in New Richland.
Casket bearers were Andrew Anderson, George Wyman, Joe Powell, Ed Madden, Fred Gray and William Christenson.
Out-of-town people attending the services were Gertrude Smith, Mrs. Wm. Brisbane of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. O.P. Varley, Miss Kathryn McFarland of Faribault; Miss Ann McGregor, Miss Mae Maguire, Mr. and Mrs. J. Maerzke of Owatonna; and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Stearns of Albert Lea.
