Clarence Philip "Bud" Ackles was born Louisville, Nebraska to Clarence and Sylvia Suiter Ackles.

He was raised in Louisville and then entered the U. S. Navy when he was sixteen. Clarence served in World War II and retired from the Navy.

After the service he moved to Dallas and worked for National Life Insurance and began working for the U. S. Postal service in 1954.

Clarence moved to the Cedar Creek Lake area in 1967 and retired in 1974 and then later moved to Scurry in 1995.

Clarence moved to Malakoff in 2006. He was a member of the Beacon Church of Christ in Gun Barrel City and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Scurry.

In 1921 Clarence married Margie Naomi Jeffcoat in Iowa. Margie preceded Clarence in death on May 12, 2001, a daughter Sylvia Marlar also preceded Clarence in death on May 14, 2007.
