Samuel Flemming (Sam) Todd, 86, died at his home late Sunday night, June 14, 1998, after a brief illness.

Graveside services were held at Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche on Wednesday, June 17 with Rev. Michael Graham officiating. Riley Funeral Home in Hamilton was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Todd was born March 27, 1912, in Comanche. He was the son of the late Samuel Barrett Todd and the late Laura Ellen Skinner Todd.

On Aug. 5, 1933, he was united in marriage with Mary Dee Long in Comanche. She preceded him in death July 12, 1981. They shared 48 years together.

Mr. Todd was veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II.

He moved to Hamilton with his family in April, 1950. He was retired from the Texas State Highway Department, where he worked as a draftsman for 20 years.

He was a member of the Bee House Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist Church in Hamilton, where he served as a Deacon for many years.

He is survived by two children, Marilyn Todd and Sam Todd; five grand-children, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Louise Meacham and Grace Todd.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one son, Donald Todd, two sisters and one brother.
