Roachdale - Donald "Red" Ray died Dec. 6 (2000) at his Roachdale home. He was 72 and formerly resided in Lizton. Born Nov. 8, 1928, in Lizton, he was a son of the late Estle and Gertha Ray. He was married to Donna Williams Ray, who survives. Mr. Ray had worked 23 years for T & W Construction Company in Indianapolis before retiring in 1995. He was a member of Emmanual Baptist Church of North Salem.
Additional survivors include sons, Allen Kirkendall, Larry Kirkendall, Byron Ray and Paul Ray; daughters Sandra Dawson, Martha Johnson, Deborah Martin and Joanne Horn; sisters Phyllis Rader, Charlene Alexander and Evalene Morrison; and several grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 9 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in North Salem with Rick Williams officiating. Interment was at Fairview North Cemetery in North Salem. Porter Funeral Home in North Salem handled the arrangements.
