Second Lieutenant Charles O. BLAKEMORE, U. S. Amy Air Corps, was born on November 24, 1923, the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Blakemore, 722 S. W. 4th St., Oklahoma City.
He was a graduate of Alex High School, and attended Central State College in Edmond, Oklahoma.
He enlisted October 23, 1942, and received his wings and commission at Victoria, Texas, in August 1943. In service overseas beginning January 1944, he participated in raids on Admiralty Island, Hansa Bay, Kavieng, and Mandang, Wewak, and Hollandia in New Guinea.
He died June 11, 1944 in an airplane crash in the New Guinea area in the last transition flight before becoming first pilot of his ship. He was posthumously awarded the Air Medal for air missions from January 2 to April 8, 1944.
