FOOSLAND -- Virginia Guylene Sampson, age 72, of Foosland, IL, passed away at 5:10 a.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2004, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home in Mattoon, IL. Reverend Gary Fairchild will officiate. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service, also at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home. Interment will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon. Guylene was born September 30, 1931, in Mattoon, IL, the daughter of William Guy and Bessie Virginia Wood Webb. She married Robert Glenn Sampson on November 10, 1950 in Mattoon. He survives. Other survivors include her children; Robert Glenn Sampson, Jr, of Gibson City, IL, William Dale Sampson of LeRoy, IL, Timothy Lee Sampson of Pheonix, AZ, Brenda Kay Friend of Rural Flannigan, IL and Lori Ann Sampson of Champaign, IL. She leaves 6 grandchildren. Her parents, and one son David Eugene Sampson preceded her in death. Guylene was a member of the Foosland United Methodist Church. She was a retired bookkeeper for Heritage Enterprises in Bloomington, IL. She was an avid reader and member of several book clubs. Guylene was also a Cardinal's baseball fan. Memorials are requested to the Arthritis Foundation.
