BALIS, Henry Clay was born April 25, 1832 in Hubbardton, Rutland County, Vermont, the son of Reuben Balis and Charlotte Stanley. He married Margaret Ketcham February 20, 1855 in Sudbury, Hubbardton County, Vermont and they were the parents of six children, Mary Rosalia (Myron M. Jenkins), Adella Cornelia (Lyman Morris Jenkins), Henry Clay II, George Smith, Margaret Ketcham, and Lillian Charlotte. He worked as a farmer all his life. He was raised a Master Mason October 30, 1866. He moved to Waverly, Nebraska about 1884. He died October 8, 1910 in Waverly, Lancaster County, Nebraska and was buried in the Rose Hill (Waverly) Cemetery, Waverly, Nebraska.
