Funeral services for Wayne L. "Sparky" Sparks, 67, of Jeffersonville, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 23, at Coots Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, with burial in Eastern Cemetery. He died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Norton Hospital, Louisville.

He was retired from Colgate having worked in the sanitation department and then worked as a driver for Nance & Kraft. He was an Army veteran of Vietnam and received a Purple Heart. He was a member of Southeast Christian Church, VFW 1832, Tri-County Shrine Auxiliary and was an avid golfer.

Survivors include his wife Twyla Pennington Sparks; son Michael Sparks of Jeffersonville; daughters, Rebecca Munoz and her husband Dagao of Sellersburg, LaCosta White and her husband Michael of Georgetown, and Michelle Vissing and her husband John of Jeffersonville; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers Ronald Sparks of Jeffersonville, John Sparks of Jeffersonville, Richard Sparks of Chicago, Ill., Wesley Sparks of Greenbrier, Tenn., Charles Sparks of Jeffersonville and David Sparks of Smyrna, Tenn.; and sister Mary Ann Snider of Clarksville.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Bessie Sparks; brothers William and James Sparks; and sister Jane Browning.
