Ruth Thorne

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. June 3 at Berean Baptist Church in Eugene for Ruth Thorne of Eugene died May 17 of age-related causes. She was 91.

She was born Sept. 25, 1919, in Lewellen, Neb., to George and Dora Byrd Braden. She married Commer Thorne on Dec. 12, 1942, in Salt Lake City. He died Nov. 6, 1965.

She graduated from Eugene High School in 1936 and from Eugene Business College. She worked as a cook for Phi Delta Theta, Alpha Tau Omega and the Chelsea House on the University of Oregon campus for 35 years.

Survivors include a son, Craig of Tacoma; a daughter, Joeinne Green of Eugene; and one grandchild.

Burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Arrangements by Sunset Hills Cemetery, Funeral Home & Crematorium in Eugene.
