Lewis Brakebill, 78, of Idabel, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2015 at Idabel. He was born October 28, 1926 at Broken Bow, the son of Henry Albert and Susie Smith Brakebill.

Lewis was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of World War II. He was member of the VFW and American Legion and was an avid outdoorsman. Lewis was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church and was lifetime resident of this area, except for the time he served his country in the military.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Lillian Frances Brakebill in 1961 and Ora Fay Brakebill in 1989, a brother Lloyd Brakebill in 2000 and his sisters, Betty Pole in 2000 and Dora Allen in 1990.

Lewis is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Teddy and Liala Brakebill of Paris, Texas, Ricky and Gail Brakebill of Broken Bow and David and Trish Brakebill of Idabel, a daughter Judy Williamson of Idabel, his brothers George and Patsy Brakebill of Nacogdoches, Texas, Billy Joe and Ann Brakebill of Idabel, Wilburn and Emma Brakebill of Idabel, a sister Nellie Sue and Harold Sorrells of Idabel, eleven grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, several cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and a host of friends.

Services were at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Freewill Baptist Church, Idabel with Bro. Jerry Jeffcoat and Herbert Rogers officiating. Interment followed in Denison Cemetery with full military honors.
