Son of Harriet "Hattie" Luella Darr and Clarence "Cal" Wesley Grayson.

During the 1930's Grayson and his orchestra were one of the tops in the nation. Well known vocalists toured with the orchestra including: Betty Grable, Martha Tilton and Shirley Ross. Stan Kenton was a member of his group – Stan was also a bandleader.

Harold first married Joy Margery Snell 12 December 1931 in Los Angeles County, California.

He married (2) Phyllis McMullen 28 July 1938 at Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah.

He married (3) Frances Bowe Elizabeth Slaugh 31 January 1940 in Los Angeles County, California.

He was divorced at the time of his death.
